Explanation: What’s happened to Mars? In 2001, Mars underwent a tremendous planet-wide dust storm – one of the largest ever recorded from Earth. To show the extent, these two Hubble Space Telescope storm watch images from late June and early September (2001) offer dramatically contrasting views of the martian surface. At left, the onset of smaller “seed” storms can be seen near the Hellas basin (lower right edge of Mars) and the northern polar cap. A similar surface view at right, taken over two months later, shows the fully developed extent of the obscuring global storm. Although this storm eventually waned, in recent days a new large dust storm has been taking hold of the red planet.

chaosophia218:

Bindu.

Bindu (Sanskrit: बिंदु) is a Sanskrit word meaning “point” or “dot”. A Bindi is a small, ornamental, devotional dot applied to the forehead in Hinduism. In metaphysics, Bindu is considered the point at which Creation begins and may become Unity. It is also described as “the Sacred Symbol of the Cosmos in its Unmanifested State.” Bindu is the point around which the Mandala is created, representing the Universe. It is often merged with seed (or sperm) and ova. In the Yoga Chudamani Upanishad Bindu is a Duality, with a white Bindu representing Shukla (sperm) and a red Bindu representing Maharaj (menses). The white Bindu resides in the Bindu Visarga and is related to Shiva and the Moon, while the red Bindu resides in the Muladhara Chakra and is related to Shakti and the Sun. In yoga, the Union of these two parts results in the Ascension of Kundalini to the Sahasrara.

Distant moons may harbor life

scifigeneration:

We’ve all heard about the search for life on other planets, but what about looking on other moons?

In a paper published June 13 in The Astrophysical Journal, researchers at the University of California, Riverside and the University of Southern Queensland have identified more than 100 giant planets that potentially host moons capable of supporting life. Their work will guide the design of future telescopes that can detect these potential moons and look for tell-tale signs of life, called biosignatures, in their atmospheres.
