French artist and photographer Jean-Paul Goude was famously obsessed with Jamaican-American superstar Grace Jones (Grace Beverly Jones OJ). She didn’t mind him either. So, they had a kid together: Paulo Goude. - rp

Grace Jones loved controversy. She was consciously working to challenge, critique, undermine and explode acceptable notions of how Black women could be portrayed and represented. She understood the contested space that her image and her body occupied in the popular imagination (masculinity v femininity, butch v femme, dark skin Afrocentric Beauty and eroticism v long-held white-derived popularly acceptable ideas about Black Beauty) and she amplified that and used it to drive her career. She was a supreme provocateur to say the least. And a Diva who absolutely adored being adored.
